Hi Folks:

I'm new to recording events for live streaming video so I need some camcorder selection help.

I will be recording pinewood derby races and playing them live on one of the video website ie... justint.tv, ustream.tv, Mogulus, etc... The cars will be moving pretty fast.

I need to buy a very good camcorder that will do a great job without breaking the bank. I need help selecting the best recording format and model. Should I get HD? What about DVD, Mini-DVD, Hard Drive? How many MP's?

Can you make some recommendations?

Thanks,
DM

Any of the HDV cams will do this for you.... and most of the DV cams as well. A top quality HDV cam for this is the is the HV20 or 30. They're not that expensive either.

You can stream live HDV through fire wire, broadcast it and record to hard drive at the same time. If you have a beefy enough computer you can also stream live FULL hd at 1920x1080 through the HDMI port with the help of the BM intensity card. You need a strong computer for this though because its fully uncompressed (although you CAN capture mjpeg as well).

Firewire is the key.
USB won't do it.
