Hi,

I have been trying to configure my Mac Mini with a Panasonic 37px80 for months and the best configuration I have achieved is a 1224x684 resolution at 60hz. Whenever I try to modify this settings with DisplayConfigx or SwitchResx to 50hz the display goes black. The thing is that the TV supports the 720p@50hz settings and I want to try this configuration in order to play some HD videos that don't play naturally at 60hz (there are small jumps due to frame dropping I guess). Any ideas?

Thanks,

Igor.

Thanks, those are more or less the settings I'm using but I can't make the TV work at 50Hz through the Mac Mini. I see that you have also set up a 60Hz refresh rate, have you tried any configuration with 50hz refresh rate? I think that a 50Hz refreseh rate will play HD videos with better performance, at 60Hz I'm getting some frame dropping (I see some jumps in HD videos).

OK, problem solved, it was not a matter of the refresh rate, it was a matter of the decoder. I was using VLC and Quicktime and hd content didn't play nicely in any of them. I installed Boxee and Plex to check the performing of hd videos and I discovered that both of them played it like charm with no dropping frames at 24p while the TV was set at 60Hz.
