Does anyone know if there is a difference between the S10 and S100 camcorders besides the internal memory? I can't seem to find any difference on the Canon website, and I haven't heard anybody mention a difference between the two models except for the memory.
Just having a hard time justifying an extra $200 for 32gb of internal memory.
I can buy 96gb of flash memory (6 - 16gb SDHC cards (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220254) - Class 6) for that extra $200.
Is there any benefit to the internal memory besides the extra space? Does it provide some sort of performance benefit? Or is this just the typical case of a manufacturer markup on cheap memory?

As far as I know, the only difference is the internal memory. I'm looking forward to some reviews of the S100.
They're the same camcorders, besides the internal storage and one's lighter..
People debated whether recording to the internal memory on the HF10/11 yielded better results. I don't know if there is a definite answer to that.
An advantage I can see of having internal memory in addition to the card slot would be if, after years of use, one day the slot malfunctioned or broke - you still would have the internal storage to record to.

If that's the case, I think I'll end up going for the S100. The only benefit I can see is if I wanted to tape for a long period of time without swapping out cards. That's an awfully big premium to pay for that convenience.
With 32 GB I can record at 24p for 2 hours and 55minutes (according to Canon's website) before I have to swap out a card. That seems like plenty to me.

Just to clarify for you, 24p is the frame rate; 24 progressive frames per second.
24mbps is the data rate; 24 megabits per second - that's the maximum setting called "MXP" that will give you the time you mentioned...
That camcorder looks really cool, but I'm not sure if I want to wait (yet again) for a camera to drop into a certain price range when I could get the HF20 or HF11 for lower. (In the next few months.)
