for the spring update, give a good reference level for people who use vga.

while the expanded looks great, it crushes blacks. i have the samsung a650. i know i'm not the only one with this problem.

There isn't going to be a spring update. Microsoft said when they released the NXE that updates would be more frequent and more transparent - there would no longer be big system-wide updates.

I use VGA too and have the same issue (although I'm admittedly not as fickle when it comes to games compared to TV or DVD/Blu-Ray). But I would say less than 3% of all XBox users connect via VGA, maybe less, so this isn't a priority for MS IMO.

Where did you read this? I am not doubting you I just want to see for myself.

There's no way I'm going to go back to last September/October to find a post about it. Google is your friend.

Well, I recall them not having a spring update in 2008, so it's highly likely they won't have one this year. But, things could change.

Currently I'm using VGA on a 32" LCD with the expanded setting. I personally don't have a problem with the picture post-calibration.

I aso remember them saying that. That was supposed to be part of the point of NXE on the backend, that they could just sort of slot things in and out.

How does standard look(black level)?

Just Google "NXE future updates" and you'll get various articles that came out before or just after the rollout.
