I am trying to wall mount my AV123 RSC200 center channel (bigfoot). The problem here is two fold, first the center is heavy (48 lbs) and second, the location of the room I'm forced to use is a spot between two windows, which seems to have no stud.

I already have the wall mount most have used for this center channel:

The problem is, I have no way to secure it to the drywall capable of holding all this weight. Since there seems to be no stud between the two windows where I am mounting it.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to secure the mount, or how to maybe add support in order to make this work? The area I have to work with is a ~8inch wide section of drywall between two windows, directly above my TV stand.

Well if there are windows, there are studs going up both sides of the windows. Is it possible to mount a routed/stained(so it looks nice) piece of plywood from one window to the other screwing the plywood to each window stud, then attatching your mount to the plywood?

The strange thing is that I tried a test hole right next to the window (maybe 1 inch out) and found there was no wood, am I looking in the wrong spot?

You should have a 2x4 running up the side of the window itself. If you have casing, the casing might be covering the 2x4. If you are a DIYer, you can think about cutting out a piece of drywall in between the windows and attaching a 2x4 (or appropriate size for your mount) going from window to window. That will give you a nice secure site to put the speaker on. It also can allow you to run speaker wire to that speaker through the wall (using code approved wire) and hide it.

Use these and it will hold the center speaker More then enough.

I can vouch for the toggler bolts - they are a good way to secure heavy items without a stud...either that or if you are feeling adventurous you can cut out drywall as mentioned and secure a 2x4 to mount into.

i hung my retracting projector screen (about 30 pounds) using some heavy duty self-anchoring bolts i got from lowe's...they were about 10 bucks i believe.

YES.
I installed Office Furniture for 10 years and we would hang 300+ lbs overheads with these things without hitting 1 stud, and NEVER had any problems.. We would only use TOGGLER BRAND but they all are about the same. Here is the lbs Ratting info for these..
