does the delivery package just leave it at the door so that anyone walking by can see the projector image / label on the box and take it? are they at least shipped in generic boxes so no one knows the contents?

I believe you have some control over method of shipping and package insurance. One camera equip. package contained over $3k of items and a signature was required. danimal60 02-25-09, 10:07 AM Even if a sig isn't required, you can track your shipments and usually know the date and time (am vs pm) of arrival and arrange to have someone home to receive. At least I would, since from what I've seen, electronics are not wrapped or otherwise repackaged, they just arrive in manufacturer's box, labeled and all. Amazon is often an authorized dealer though. I would always pick a trusted place like amazon when buying something as expensive as a projector. Whatever you do, be careful if you decide to go the ebay route! http://************************************/img/2464/i09b0128lrvx/smile.gif raftermanfmj 02-25-09, 01:52 PM does the delivery package just leave it at the door so that anyone walking by can see the projector image / label on the box and take it? are they at least shipped in generic boxes so no one knows the contents? I've purchased many, many items from Amazon and those that sell-thru the Amazon site, and never once did any item arrive that wasn't inside a nondescript box. The contents were never identified, nor could they be; just had an awesome back-to-basics 4 slice toaster/egg poacher breakfast sandwich maker arrive today. Never had a product damaged either, and Amazon's return policy is platinum if you should have a problem. dogmanky 02-25-09, 01:55 PM I bought the HC1600 Deal and returned it. Amazon took care of everything and sent the UPS guy to my door. Not a single problem. :) TF Ghost 02-25-09, 02:02 PM I would always pick a trusted place like amazon when buying something as expensive as a projector. You mean like one of the forum sponsors listed at the top of the page? :) Quick Hands 02-25-09, 03:41 PM dogmanky off topic but why did you return the mits 1600? dogmanky 02-25-09, 06:52 PM dogmanky off topic but why did you return the mits 1600? Didn't realize the 2X color wheel when I ordered it. I experienced some RBE with my X1 a few years ago and didn't want to chance it. I have a HC1500 presently with 4X CW and no RBE problems at all. Figured I will just buy a bulb for the 1500 when I need to. iresq 02-25-09, 07:14 PM Have your projected delivered to work (if possible). That way someone will be there to sign for it and the wife does not have to know! Bujee1 02-26-09, 02:31 AM I bought a sub woofer, my Benq MP512ST projector and my Klipsch C1 Center speaker as well as about 25 Blu-ray and or HDDVDs. It's too easy. georgeorwell 02-26-09, 09:55 AM I have bought a few pjs from Amazon. No issues with them, or the scores of other items I buy from them every year. Great return policy....... Good point about having delivered to work. Amazon does require a signature for higher value items, so I do have those delivered to work instead. The_Nephilim1 02-26-09, 10:39 AM I bought My Sharp Projector Off of Amazon just make sure they are an Authorized Reseller or have a good Return Policy.. I had no Problems with mine so no need to return but after so many days you need to have a Manufacurers Warranty so that is why you should make sure they are an Authorised Reseller.. -Gerald fleaman 02-26-09, 03:12 PM Bought my Panny BD35 blu ray player from Amazon...when they had that amazing deal that included like 6 blu ray discs. Also buy many other things from amazon...never had a problem with them. Even buy a lot of used CD's/Dvd's, etc. through their 3rd party marketplace feature. Works great---better than ebay in a lot of ways. Never understood why amazon offers that. I'm sure they get a tiny cut, but couldn't be as good as selling a new CD/Dvd. Also have an Amazon credit card. You get unlimited points.....and 3 points for every 1 point if bought off amazon. After 2500 points you get a $25 credit at amazon. Again, unlimited so you can get multiple $25 credits a year. PLB 02-26-09, 05:38 PM I bought a Mitsubishi HC1600 last week from Amazon. I was buying three novels and their clever software suggested I might be interested in the Mitsu at the new very low price. Indeed I was. I had expected to buy a Panny AE3000 but at well less than one third the price of the Panny, I made an impulse buy of the Mitsu. It arrived two days later. I signed for it and set it up. Happy buyer! It was double boxed. limulus 02-26-09, 07:33 PM I've purchased expensive camera gear, DVD players, stereo equipment, etc, etc from Amazon. I consider them one of the best places to buy electronics. Their prices aren't always the lowest, but I've never had a problem with them. They are also a pretty good place to do research if you read customer reviews. |
