View Full Version : How can I stop NXE from displaying the last 3 games I've played?

I just bought my first Xbox 360 last week.:D:cool: I love NXE, but I have a problem with it. The video game tab displays the last 3 games I've played. I have some relatives with very conservative religious views towards violence and sex in video games.:( When I'm playing family friendly video games with them, I'd rather not let them know I've been playing Grand Theft Auto 4.:p:eek: I know I can change the settings to play a game in the DVD drive first, and bypass the NXE menu; but I still want to play downloaded games with them, and would therefor have to use the NXE menu and risk them seeing the video game tab. How can I get the video game tab to not display the last 3 games I've played?

You could just play 3 random family friends for a few seconds before they come over. It may take a few minutes and requires you to know when they are stopping by, but its the easiest way I can think of.

Or you could just have two accounts and set it to not log in automatically. Keep one you use when family is around and one when they aren't. The only downside to this is you'll have to manually log in each time and you'll be limited to local play unless you want to pay for two gold accounts.

If they are guests in your home then its no business of theirs what games you play....

Can you use the Quick Launch feature from the Guide Menu to launch your game instead of using the standard NXE interface? Does Quick Launch show the most recent games you've played?

You could go out and buy the latest Cannibal Corpse cd and blast it while they are there. You playing gta would be the last of their worries then.

That's my opinion. Grow a pair :) Do you also hide your copy of The Godfather when they come over and put a copy of The King James Bible on the coffee table?

I just don't "get" having to hide things from relatives. If they start preaching at you, politely say "I don't share those views, and I would appreciate if you can respect my beliefs while you are in my house, and I will do the same when in your house."

Alternatively, do one of the other suggestions. Just hope they don't notice your last three achievements came from Gears Of War 2, or all hell may break out, and they may start throwing holy water at you and chanting incantations.

I hope they are not like that crazy woman on Trading Spouses. Otherwise, you've got bigger problems!

GARGILES!!!!

I wonder what a dad would do if he was trying to hide the fact he owns the latest valiant videogame from his kids. "No, we can't buy that game, it is to violent" :p

create a 2nd silver account to use when the guest come over. then have your main account setup for the darker side of you.

you should still be able to access XBLA games and I believe DLC.

Plus, password-protect your "secret-life" account.
That is how kids hide stuff from their parents if the parents aren't savvy-enough to set family controls in place before the kid gets the box. :D
If you play a little bit of a handful of family-friendly games, you can even claim you don't play much, that you only got the xbox for the media features

For extra brownie points, set family controls on the silver account so XBL will only show pg13 movies for rent.

I also have some family with religeous so as extreme to not have a TV.
You shouldn't have to bow to there views, and if you do, maybe ask your self why feel you conform to there standards while there over?

As others have surmised, there's a good chance the OP is younger than 18 (the amount of emoticons is an obvious tip off). If true, his parents have every right to know what he is playing and to dictate rules regarding behavior.

If that assumption is incorrect, my apologies.

Strange...I could have swore the OP said he has relatives that come over. Guess I read it wrong.

Yeah, my guess is with others....trying to hide games from his parents (my apologies also if this is incorrect).

Yeah, and Nick Swardson had roommates in Grandma's Boy. Hopefully there is no onesie or race car bed in this situation.

I love NXE, but I have a problem with it. The video game tab displays the last 3 games I've played. I have some...

The way I see it, you've got two choices:

Quit playing "Barbie Horse Adventures"
Man up to the fact that you like playing "Barbie Horse Adventures" and quit caring what anyone thinks about it

Do one of those and you won't have to come on here with fastastical made-up scenarios about conservative relatives.

i take it the privacy settings for played games only works on XBL, and not on the actual system than?

Alright, I just have to respond to some of the more amusing posts.
First off, I guess I need to buy Barbie's Horse Adventure, based on all the buzz its getting. Next, I'm 27 years old. To prove that statement, I used to watch My Little Pony when I was in Kindergarten. (Do the math, it all adds up.;)) Another poster thought that "Relatives" = Parents. In this instance, I can assure you that is not the case. My mom doesn't even know how to turn on a computer, let alone play my 360. In response to your next question, yes, I do live with my mom. (I have a low paying job.) "Relatives" = My Sister and her son (my nephew). Also, I guess I did go a bit overboard with the emotacons... To the people that actually answered my question, Thank you.:) I'm going to create a second silver account for my nephew to use. In response to the posters who thought I should grow a pair: I would love to, but you haven't met my sister. You don't get to choose your family, and in the interests of getting along, I respect her beliefs, even though I don't share them. (PM me if you want to know what religion she is.)

I understand completely. While I don't have this problem with games, per se, I do understand the desire to have peace in the family. I too have relatives that drive me crazy with some of their beliefs/statements. And while I would love to "grow a pair", in the interests of promoting good relations with my relatives I don't tell them how I really feel about them. I'm sure most men with Mothers-in-law can understand. ;)
