I have a harmony 890 and it does not always select the right input for the tv. i have a sylvania lcd. the funny thing is that sometimes it works fine and goes to the right input, i have tried to figure out why but cannot. i did not update the remote or change anything else. i watch hdtv on the antenna input in one activity and satelite tv on the component 1 input in a seperate activity. also intially when i set up the watch satelite tv activity the harmony changed the channels on the satelite receiver w/o having to go to the device directly, now i have to goto the device otherwise it changes the channels on the dvd player that is also on in the watch satelite tv activity

For your first issue (tv not going to the right input), you likely need to set a delay. I suspect that your TV needs to be on for a specified amount of time (almost all TV's do) before you can change inputs. You should be able to go into the device setup for your TV and change the power on delay - this is the amount of time the remote takes to send a second command to the TV after it powers on. Does the input change to the right one after you hit the help button? If so, then the power on delay is definitely the issue. Also, this goes without saying, but you need to keep the 890 pointed at the TV until all of the commands for the activity have been sent.

it's a more eloquent explanation.

For your second problem, I guess I would have to ask why the DVD player is in your watch satellite tv activity. In any case, go through the setup of the activity again - I believe it will ask you specifically what device you use to change channels, and what device you use to control volume. In any event, I would delete the DVD player from the activity, unless you have it there for some reason I can't think of.
