no kidding well it would be nice for those of us that keep supporting vista even though 7 is coming out later this year. we should get a free or discount upgrade.

Simply proves that windows 7 is really Vista SP2 and Vista SP2 is a collection of existing fixes.

On this one Apple's Mac v PC ads are spot on. Windows 7 is a marketing campaign for Vista SP2.

Is there a TotalMediaTheater equivalent on Mac? Something that can play mounted HD/BD isos and folders?

I replaced Vista SP2 beta on my laptop with the Win7 beta and have significant functionality and performance improvements.
And the good news that the Vista drivers work in Win7 since the underlying driver security system is unchanged.

Not really, anymore then you can claim XP was a SP/Facelift for 2000.

7 is the same kernel, but definitely making alot of changes to UI/Performace/etc, so I dont see what the problem is. Besides, arent SPs notoriously just a collection of fixes? I dont see how that is any evidence that 7 is lite on changes.

then you must be the idiot that let apple sell you their service packs at $100 a pop every 18 months.

Installed SP2 RC1 on my x64 system just to give it a try. No obvious benefit, that was expected. But I did find my video performance was impacted. When watching Hulu the performance was worse, looked like a slower frame rate.

Removed SP2 everything was back to normal. Obviously this was not a scientific study buy any means, might of just been one bad night for Hulu servers. Anyone else seen similar?

FYI, that's what Service Packs are really supposed to be in the Microsoft world. They generally don't add significant new functionality.

Yes, Vista SP2 is really just going to roll up all existing fixes into a single install, but I really feel MS has to do something about Vista's performance, considering this is almost certainly going to be the last Vista SP.

MS do say SP2 addresses some 'performance issues', but if they really have solved most of these 'issues' in Win7, how much effort would it be to back port some of these to Vista at this stage? Maybe they won't because they don't want to take any shine of Win7. Who knows how MS think sometimes...
