I just bought a sealed copy of Gothika from an Amazon Seller and am unable to get through it on either my HDV5000 rev2.4 or an HD-A2 rev2.7. I cleaned that bugger at least six times and finally gave up after the last freeze at 33 minutes into the film (the problems were either failure to transition from load to play, or freezes).
My question is if others have found Gothika a problematic title, because those two players normally have no trouble with HD DVD, and that includes discs I've bought from BlockBuster!
Anybody?

Just realized I specified the wrong firmware revisions in my first post and so just corrected them.
Anybody at all have any problems at all with Gothika HD DVD?
a30 here and not problem!

After returning the disc to the seller, I'm notified the disc played fine at their warehouse. This is the first time I've been unable to play a "good" HD DVD disc on either player, but I don't see much point in taking further chances on that title. I've ordered the BD, but really hate to do that :(!

Not that it would help in your situation (seems contrary to what the warehouse guys says) it seems to be a disc problem but is there a reason why you are running 2.7? I just upgraded my firmware on my A2 and A20 to 4.0 without any problems.

Very definite reasons for 2.7 on the A2 and 2.4 on the HDV5000. I've always been very careful about changing firmware revisions and the image quality I got with those releases were the best ever (CUE and color space as far as I can determine), plus they are compatible with my equipment.
From reading other's experiences with later revisions, it appeared to me that any gain of ground ran hand in hand with loss of ground for hardware compatibility, and it seemed as though some color space issues may have returned. Since it wasn't clear to me any of the later releases solved HD DVD specific problems, and the ground appeared unstable regarding other problems, I decided to stay put. Perhaps 4.0 would have been the solution, but my comfort level doesn't go there :)!
