The other day I was browsing thru all the various Community Games on Xbox Live. I noticed that there was a Calibration "game" or I guess app, that you could download. I was pretty amused at seeing that. Just wondering if anybody checked it out?

I saw that as well and it wouldn't let me download the trial for some reason. If it was any good I would get it in a hearbeat as I need such a program

I'm getting this. The screen shots suggest it does the basics right.
A good deal at 200 points.
Nice to see needed utilities popping up via XNA.

This looks promising. I've done the DVE before (rented from Netlix), but not for quite awhile, and for 200 points, this would be handy to have around.

Thanks for the heads-up.

So can anyone report back on this yet?

Nice little tool for 200 points , pretty much just basics regarding calibration but it does work . The size test will allow you to see if your display is indeed pixel mapping and you can find out exactly what percentage you are losing to overscan (if any) . You can flick through all the color options to obtain a greyscale ramp . Will post more as I find stuff ;) .

The tool can be copied to a memory card and remain on the original hard drive , might come in handy for those of us with multiple 360's .

Some of the cross hatch patterns can be used with VGA tracking/phase adjustments if you know what you are doing (same patterns can also be used for Sharpness adjustment) .

I grabbed it. Still tinkering with it, not totally sure exactly how to use it, kinda a noob with the adjusting stuff

I was wondering if this would help me calibrate my RGB gains on my JVC FC-97 (rear projection LCoS)?

can anyone compare this to the mp4 versions of avs709? worth getting this too, or no? that's what I used previously to calibrate my 360.

There are better tools out there for adjusting gains/offsets (which should truly be done with the aid of a sensor anyway , not by eye , since these are part of a displays grayscale) .

The MP4 release offers many more calibration patterns , the LIVE tool is a very basic collection of patterns with some cool little additions (nothing really in depth here but it's a good start) .

What would you recommend? I've been trying to find DVE, but it's nowhere to be found in any of the stores. I thought Blockbuster would offer it as a rental, but it's neither of the Blockbusters in my town.

figured as much, thanks. I love that someone put this out though..great use of the community platform and a good tool for people to have, even if it's pretty basic.

I used it tonight. Oddly enough, I didn't notice any changes when I played with setting color.

But, I'm a completely newb when it comes to configuring TVs...
