View Full Version : review of gen VIII ser II and some info regarding the CBIII. rick e 02-26-09, 02:50 AM http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/accessory-reviews/dac-digital-analog-converter/theta-generation-viii-series-2-digital-to-analog-converter/preamp.html bigbrother52 02-26-09, 03:34 AM Nice find. It's a wonderfully candid interview with Dave Reich, Theta’s General Manager and Design Engineer. It is of course about the new Gen VIII series 2 but does offer some insight as to what Theta has in mind for the future of it's product lines. Thanks EDIT: If you don't mind I've posted all the info from the article about the CBIII in the "CBIII To Have HDMI" thread, leaving this one for any and all discussion about the Gen VIII upgrade, which was the intent of the article anyway. DougWinsor 02-26-09, 06:47 PM http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/images/stories/2009/february-2009/Theta-3.gif They also had a nice picture. http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/accessory-reviews/dac-digital-analog-converter/theta-generation-viii-series-2-digital-to-analog-converter/preamp_3.html JVS: How about firewire and HDMI? DR: We have no plans for either on the Gen. VIII. When the HDMI project is complete on the Casablanca, however, we will have a new digital output that will provide a solution for Gen. VIII owners. For Gen. VIII owners who want to go the whole way, they could use four digital outputs into four Gen. VIIIs for 7.1 high-def. The sound will be pretty spectacular. I was more interested in this, does theta have a plan like meridian to use multiple legacy outputs to obtain lossless audio? Anyone have an idea? |
