I have an HTPC that I record SDTV an HDTV QAM from my cable provider. I was wondering if there is a high quality AV receiver that I can add to my Home theater that can upscale the SDTV that I record to a very impressive 1080p? I'm looking for a quality receiver. I'm hoping $1000 would be enough to find something that is very good a upconversion. Is there anything out there at this price or lower? I was looking at the Onkyo 806 and 876. Any recommendations are welcome regardless of price. I really don't know what there is out there and the more input I get at different price ranges the better. Who knows; maybe I'll budget for a $3000 reciever if it is worth it. Video quality is what I'm looking for. I'm not the biggest audiophile. I figure most of that quality comes from the speakers.

Better question for the audio boards, but note that you should audition them. Many of the receivers with better video processing sacrifice to some degree the audio performance, which is really the main point of it.

Thanks, I'll move it over there. I was thinking I'd have to do it here because my focus is on the video processor of the AV receiver.

Thanks again.

This section is more for dedicated VP's, but I understand your thinking. Good luck!
