Well here are my initial thoughts on the two (after having the 6100 for about 3 weeks)... the image is much more pleasing to me on the 6500... i think it was worth the difference in price (which was about 500 after rebate)... the blacks on the 6500 blow the 6100 away IMHO... the picture seems more detailed and seems to have more depth... i guess to to the increased contrast... when i had the 6100 i was constantly fiddling with the brightness and contrast controls to try and get the picture how i liked it... i seem to barely have to touch things with the 6500... also ihad the focus issue on the 6100, that issue is non existant on my 6500 (maybe it has a fix in place)

on the negative... my unit seems to be louder... not so much louder volume wise, but it makes a certain tone that is more noticable and somewhat annoying... ive mounted my shelf higher and it is less noticable... however the iris on this unit seems quiter than the 6100... im still may try and get a replacement unit...im not sure if the extra noise is normal or not...

also the FI is useless to me, it does so many unusual things, it is too much of a distraction... hopefully the firmware fix will actually happen and make it useful... as of now though i cant see myself ever using it...

all in all im pleased with the upgrade and it was worth the extra $$

I think you made a good choice. For the extra money you got inorganic panels and the Reon chip.

In Australia the TW3000 (6100) can be had for $2400 and the TW4000 (6500) is approx $4400
