Preface: I couldn't find a clock for the HT I liked anywhere. I didn't want one I'd hear tic-tocking away, it needed to be visible in the dark but not glaring, and I wanted it to be theater themed in some way.

So I gave up and began designing my own:



One sacrificial Craigslist $5 digital LED clock with photo sensor
Scraps of MDF from my shop.
A piece of galvanized flashing cut into the shape of a hinge
alarm magnets to hold the 9V backup
B&W Enamel paint
Walmart $0.97 alphabet stickers
white automotive pinstriping.


Total project materials cost...probably around $15

...oh, and some healthy doses from the glue gun :)

The photo makes the LED background look much brighter than it really is. In normal room illumination it's a deep red, in dim light it blends in completely with the black board.
