Since Epson is not aware of the FI issue that is discussed here, either the issue is just some isolated instances or something else is causing the FI issue to not be addressed. This poll should determine if the issue is widespread or if it is rather isolated. Please only cast your vote if you have actually owned the 6500UB.

The FI is definitley an issue UNLESS you are feeding it a 1080P/24 signal because then it seems to work perfectly & that's probably the stance that Epson is taking on this matter. If I'm using our Blu Ray or Toshiba HDDVD players & sending it a 1080P/24 the FI works & looks great BUT if you send it anything other than that and it looks totally different & sort of like live HD hand held camera or like you are standing right there on the set as the movie was being filmed which is definitely a problem as far as I'm concerned. I'm very surprised that EPSON's quality control didn't pick up on this serious software glitch.

I got a demo of the TW5000 with FI enabled (playing blu-rays) and I confirm the problems people are relaying on the forums, like sporadic jerks, stuttering on fine details, distortion of objects moving very fast... I even witnessed a total failure of the FI, where the subject was transformed into an ugly Picasso painting.

As, on the other hand, I really appreciate the smoothness of motion generated by FI, I 'm looking forward to a quick fix by Epson.
If they don't, I won't buy.

On the Epson 7500 thread someone has reported that he just got a 7500 with the "fix" and it works great! I'm looking forward to upgrading my projector with new FW! This should take the 6500/7500 from being a very good pj to a great one (especially for the price).

i read in the comment section on one of projectorreviews.com blog entry's that someone in sweeden got the firmware fix along with the focus fix from epson...

if and when this does come available, where do you get the official info from??? is it announced on epsons webpage, or do you need to register your product and they send you and email??

With the 7500UB (and I assume the 6500UB) you get a plastic card with a "privateline technical support" phone number and an individual identification code to be punched in to put you through. I would think this would be a starting point for FW upgrades.

Yes, an individual identification code that doesn't work.

+1, I called the non toll free number and told them about my non working identification code. They gave me a new one that works. Call them and they will give you a new code.

I have a code for my 1080ub and i just upgraded to the 6500ub do i need a new code?

They say it is a "personal" ID number... i don't think it is tied to the projector.
