Hello all,

I picked up three cheap pneumatic bar stools at XS Cargo a few months ago. They were only about $45 each.

One of them recently started having trouble staying extended; even a very light amount of weight would cause it to fully compress.

Now, it seems to have completely given up the ghost, as it won't extend at all.

I know nothing about how these work, but I assume it "sprung a leak" so to speak.

Is there any way to fix the pneumatic piston, or is it ruined?

The piston most likely has an O-ring packing around it that could be easily replaced provided the assembly was built with disassembly in mind. Usually one end of the tube is sealed, and the other end has a cir-clip that will let you withdraw the piston assembly.
