My power supply is dead again.

Does anyone know if ABT has done anything to address the VP30 power supply failure issues? This is my second VP30 power supply failure and I have read that quite a few others have had the same problem. Has ABT had the same problem on other products or is it strictly the VP30? Can anyone who has had this issue resolved share any wisdom?

I believe the VP20/30/50 all use the same power supply. I ended up buying a third party variable one when mine died since the ones from ABT seem to suck. One of the big "improvements" for the DVDO Edge is a newer internal supply which is supposedly of better quality and assume this will be the case with future their future processors. I should hope this is the case since switching it out will be even more difficult if it is internal.

Thanks for the info guys. I have a called (had to leave a message) and emailed ABT ,but they have not responded yet.

Miyashiro If you have the specifics on where you got your power supply would you mind sharing it here or P.M.ing me? TIA.

Mine also died (also VP30). It read 6V as per normal but the VP30 was totally dark (even after hard reset). I work near ABT and took it in. Ken used another adapter and it worked fine. The problem is that they are on back order until mid/end April.
I googled but cannot find another 6V 5A equivalent.

Any suggestions?

I have got the same issue, my VP30 ps died. The support proposed a replacement for $50+ shipping. I checked here in France and there is no way to get it locally. I finally changed the 2 capacitors inside my ps. The 2 CapXon capacitors were dead. When these capacitors are burning they are inflating at the top, it is pretty obvious.

My scaler works fine now. Hope this helps.

DVDO now has VP30 power supplies on stock. Mine shipped yesterday and should arrive today. :)
