I'm looking to buy 1st projector. I'm looking at the JVC HD-1, Sharp xvz 15000, and Benq 5000. My room is 48'X18 mixed used theater and pool table and bar. I;ll be sitting as far back as 18 feet. Want to have around a 106" screen. I'll be viewing HDTV, XBOX 360 and DVDs dont have blue ray yet. I have NO windows and have the theater area lights on a differnt zone than the game room. I can get all of these PJ close to the same price give or take $500 under $3000. Thanks for your input

You either need to get a lot larger screen or move your seating closer. A good rule of thumb is: seating to screen distance of 1.5 times width of screen. For a 106" screen that would give you a seating distance of 11'-6". For a seating distance of 18 feet you would need a 144" screen. Some people with 1080p projectors sit even closer to the screen than 1.5 times screen width. Some people do go slightly larger than times screen width.

Well he doesn't HAVE to. That's his personal choice. The JVC is definitely the best of the three. Where are you getting it for that price? You can get a refurb benq w5000 from the benq store for $1300 (they go in and out of stock) if that lower price tempts you.

On Ebay, and 1 or 2 sites online. I have read that Sharh has better lumes and better contrast ratio, wonder if any has seen the sharp I know its brand new. Any body got sneek peek maybe at trade show or a early release of it

I agree that he does not have to, but buying a screen that is too small is a typical first timer mistake.
