Hi all. My currrent PC is a 1.86 dual core, 2 gig ram, 9400 gt vid card and it lags when I am trying to edit HD movies with Pixela (program came with HF11). Can i change just the CPU, add more ram...will this do the trick? What's the min cpu speed to edit HD? Thanks.

My board is Asus P5N E SLI. How do I find out if it supports core2quad cpus?
i googled your mb, and it looks like it supports core2quad, but you need to verify that for yourself by digging up the owners manual... it'll be online at the asus site.
microcenter was just blowing out core2quads for under $110(!!) yesterday, but they went out of stock immediately.
do you know exactly what model of cpu you have now? right-click on my computer, then go to properties.

It's intel 1.86 dual core. I will check when I get home for specifics.
I only have 2 gb of ram. I can go up to 16 (4x4) but isn't that an overkill? Will 8 gigs be enough?
If I can upgrade to a 2.83 quad core and bump up ram to 8 gb, do you think this is enough?
