Was going to buy the refurb benq w5000 but it's sold out. What do you guys recommend and the "next" best thing as far as bang for your buck right now? Projector will be mounted 14 foot back from screen which is 120"

You can get the HD65 for very cheap on ebay, I got a refurb that was factory sealed for $700, perfect condition.

The Benq refurbs come and go, so that may return. However, I think you would need more like at least a 16' throw distance for a 120" screen.

Do you definitely want 1080p? As the previous poster said check back every day for Benq refurbs back in stock.

Is that mounted 14' back or 14' from the lens to the screen? As the other poster said you will need more like 16' to get 120" with the Benq, see here.

Do a feature search at projectorcentral for your requirements and select from the projectors that meet your needs and budget. Trust me, do as much research as you can because the greatest projector in the world at a fantastic price still will not make you happy if it does not work in your room.

good luck

If you can't get a W5000 refurb, you may be able to get an Epson 6100. I saw a guy post that he got one for 1399 plus tax at BB. He asked and the manager discounted it with no argument. He even posted a copy of the receipt. The W5000 probably has a better overall picture, but the 6100 is way more flexible when it comes to mounting position. It also has horizontal and vertical lens shift and a better warranty. I am a BenQ fan myself and have a BenQ 7800 and a W5000 on the way.

I would think the Pioneer Pro FPJ1 would be bang for buck since you can find it under 3K new.
