I am buying a 58" plasma tv or bigger. I am stuck on the differenced between the samsung 800 and 850.

I am looking for ONLY picture quality and am not looking for additional bells or whistles. I unfortunately won't be able to get a pioneer. What recommendations do you guys have?!?

I believe you are referring to Panasonic regarding the 800 and 850.

You should try the 58PZ800. It does not provide full picture control over the PZ850, but its perfect based on your situation. Messing with temp/gamma settings isn't necessary and takes someone special to give you that perfect 6500k pic.

Well it's not look I couldn't benefit from having extra calibration functionality.

I am buying a 58-60 inch plasma. Can't afford the pioneer. I could get any of the LG, Samsung, Or Panny Plasma's. I have seen burn in on a few different LG plasma's so don't really want to go with them. But samsung or Panny would be fine. I just dont know the difference between the samsung 550, 650, and 760, or the panny 800 and 850.

I am looking for only PQ differences (Incuding more options for calibration and fine tuning)

I current have the panny 42px80u which I love. Honestly I just want a tv that looks just as good as that, only bigger.

It is for my living room, I am sitting 12 feet away. If it matters I watch mostly movies and play lots of video games.

As far as Samsungs go they all have the same screen between the 550/650/760 it's little differences in connectors and the Touch of Color feature(the red glowing edge on the bezel). 550 doesn't have ToC, the 650 and 760 do. Other then that the difference between the 650 and 760 is that the 760 has network capability for media streaming and also has built in content(some hard coded videos basicly nothing really special). All of them have the same controls and adjustability.

The Touch of Color bezel does not glow. In fact in darker rooms you can't tell the difference between it and black. I do like the way it looks, gives the room something other than black.

There are not too many differences between 550/650/750 for Samsung. I do believe there is a difference in the anti glare between the 550 and the 650, but they aren't the best (are any plasmas all that great?)

I went with the 650 over the Panasonic TVs. I found the Pannies to have more grain to the picture, which bothered me a bit. The blacks seemed very similar. On top of that, I was able to get an excellent deal on the Samsung that it made that an easy decision.

so the difference from the samsung 550 through the 760 is bells and whistles. Is the PQ the same on all?

If that is really true, then I believe that you will kick yourself if you do not consider the Pioneer KRP-600M. You can pick one up for less than you are aware. :)

I think you just answered your own question. If you are an owner of Panasonic, you can EXPECT the same picture quality. I would give the 58PZ800 a shot. ;)

I like the 550. But you should check them out in person if possible.

A lot of people here recently posted there satisfaction with the 650 series Samsung plasmas. As always I suggest you look at the TVs but I would go with a 650 series Sammy.
