HTPC configuration for people using PT-AX200E/U
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This info is for people who use HTPC to operate their panasonic projector PT-AX200. Since i bought this projector and used my HTPC i remained totally disappointed as the picture was not so sharp and looks like out of focus. I tried all possible combinations to get best picture but could not get it. i tried both ATI and nvidia series of different VGAs and my final conclusion is nVidia is best. ATI might be good for gaming but nVidia and particualrly 8600 is best for blu-ray/HD-DVDs.
Here is my configuration:
Core2Quad, 2.4GHz, 4GB RAM, nVidia GeForce 8600 GT, LG HD-DVD/Blu-ray Combo drive. i use DVI-HDMI cable. in nVidia control panel use 1920x1080@60Hz (by the way this would be the native resolution which shall be detected automatically once you shall instal drivers), in overlay settings dont touch colors, use Gamma from 1.20-150 as per your choice, use 00-255 and 51 as edge enhancement. dont use any other settings. in pt-ax200 use normal settings with IRIS and light hormonizer both off. in advances mode keep NR off and you shall get wonderfull picture.
Problem is that panasonic advise that it is 720p projector so should be used on 1280x720 but it is not true, i feel even panasonic dont realize as it seems they did not test blu-ray playback using HTPC. This projector is used for blu-ray players which would deliver 1080p picture to projector and then projector shall downsacle 1080p signal to 720p display with amazing clarity and picture would look like 1080p.
Try this and cheers........
