Hello, im new to all this electronic stuff but we are moving into a new home and I just bought an LG 60PG60 to put over our fireplace. Im going to run 1 50 meter UltraLInk Pro HDMI line to the other side of the room where it will connect into a Pioneer Elite Receiver VSX-94 which from there it will go to my PS3. Someone told me to also use a Panamax Level 3 Power Center Panamax M5100-PM to make the picture quality better... is this true or just a gimmic to sell me their product? Any input is appreciated...

Power conditioners are good items to have... First off, they help protect from surges in line power...common. Secondly they help clean up poor power lines. But, more on the second one...depends a lot on your house and local power quality. In addition, it is not a miracle worker so don't expect a huge improvement (many don't see the benefits in picture quality).

Whether you invest in an entry level, mid level (such as the Panamax) or high end unit, it is always something good to have. Just don't expect a huge performance change.

Is the Panamax 5300-EX any good? Is this a line conditioner also??

It is an older model, but higher level. The PM models are newest, EX are last years.

not to resurrect an old thread but I am having a problem (I think) with my Panamax M4300-PM Power Manager.

I was just given one of these and I hooked everything up. Plugged it in and I notice that it hums..... Is this normal for a unit like this? I don't know if its considered a loud hum or if its normal but its loud to me. Might be as loud as my plasma... And its the unit that hums, not my speakers or anything.

Just curious.

I'll try to post a audio file it.
