Yes...mainly because the built-in processing in older plasmas was poor. The Anthem has much newer processing so it will most certainly help (to a degree, but you are limited by the display a good amount).

If it were me, I'd spend less money and get a new Kuro. That would get you overall better PQ.

That will help if he doesn't want other aspects of the Anthem. Generally though I agree...never buy an audio prepro/receiver based solely on its video performance...not what they are designed to do.
