I have just purchased a JVC RS2 and a Sony BD350 blu-ray and i am getting a message stating that my HDMI connection is out of range. I have the Sony setup as 1080p output, there is an option to set HDMI to auto but i selected 1080p. this message goes away and I still get a picture can anyone explain why i am getting this message. thanks

I use to get this irritating message 3-4 times before a movie started w/ my RS1 (Sony BD350/Onkyo 885). Since moving up to the RS20, I no longer get the message:). (somehow HDMI now stays locked while viewing the 1080i60 FBI/warnings/text screens)

I also have an RS1 and it does the same thing with my Panny BD55. It gives that message probably 3 to 5 times until it locks on, then all is fine. For some reason, it's only Bluray, My Toshiba XA2 usually only does it once before locking in. Just a quirk of Bluray I guess. My older Panny BD30 did it too.

Not Blu ray, but the changing of resolution (like what John said).

This is not uncommon (again as others said, if it stops after a brief moment). Are you switching through a prepro/receiver? That often can make this occur more frequently as well. But, it is normal.
thanks everyone for the reply's now i can rest tonight knowing my projector is showing my movies in 1080p.

Happens a million and one times with Disney titles for some reason, my guess more previews before the title starts. Its normal. I have a BD30 paired with HD1.

These messages are one of the 1300 annoying side effects of HDCP.

You can make it respond faster by setting your source (cablebox) to a fixed resolution. For instance, turn to a channel with 1080i (i.e. NBCHD, discover HD) and then set the output to fixed resolution in your cablebox. That will make it much faster.
