Hi,

I'd would need your help with following problem, which I have noticed only recently. I have Epson TW700 projector and Oppo DV-980H player.

When I watch a 4:3 movie, or a movie with other non-widescreen aspect ratio, there is image distortion visible, which is a little bit hard to describe, but it's kinda pixelation/interlacing, which is present on contrast edges of the picture, typicaly the profiles of the characters and it is visible only when the characters are moving, or when the camera is horizontaly panning.

I wanted to take some pictures of the screen to show you, but it is really only visible in the motion. I have tried all possible projector/DVD-player setup changes, but I had no success.

I don't know if I have made myslef clear and if you'll be able to tell what could be the problem and how to solve it, but I would appreciate any help.

Thank you.

My guess is that you are comparing HD broadcasts which will be digital widescreen with SD 4:3 broadcasts which might be analog. If this is true and your equipment is less than stellar on deinterlacing you would see artifacts on the 4:3 material. The aspect ratio is not a cause of the lower quality image you are seeing but just a sign.

Or I could be full of beans.

I wasn't sure what you meant, but I googled deinterlacing and found out, that this is probably the problem. The picture looks like on the third picture from above on this http://www.100fps.com/ site. But it's strange, because it began to appeare only few weeks ago and I am not aware that I made any setup changes that could cause it.

Any ideas what to do?
