View Full Version : Any new Sony PJ's announced today? twenty/twenty 03-02-09, 05:20 PM AVS rumor has it there is a dealer open house March 2-4. ALMA 03-03-09, 07:55 AM I am also interested in it! http://news.sel.sony.com/assets/OpenHouse2009/index.html Robert George 03-03-09, 09:57 AM Sony projector products are usually announced at CEDIA. ALMA 03-04-09, 03:55 AM Sony projector products are usually announced at CEDIA. And so unusually Sony announced at the Open House 2008 the VW40 (and i guess the HW10 prototype was also presented) and what is with any insider information about the upcomming XBR10/11? :D http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=13234143 li.ar.ma 03-04-09, 07:38 AM Seems like the economy is not good and Sony has their focus on the mass market more than the niche market. For awhile Sony's mass product seems to be cheaply made but charge with a premium. Now I can see them taking back the lost market from Samsung. Jason Turk 03-04-09, 02:13 PM One of our workers is at the show today. We'll report soon. twenty/twenty 03-04-09, 03:22 PM AaaaaHaaaaa! (Imagine George from Seinfeld); ) Momma always said good things come to those who wait. Show's over today, so let er rip. Higher brightness, long throw options, better contrast? twenty/twenty 03-05-09, 10:34 AM With the RS20 out and about and the Lumis looming, I would say it is time for a new Sony showcase piece. Any news yet? The show is over for another year. wnielsenbb 03-05-09, 10:54 AM I am hoping they are bringing out a 3D capable projector. :) Warren. wiigirl 03-05-09, 11:14 AM I am hoping they are bringing out a 3D capable projector. :) Warren. So the VW-70 and VW-80 aren't new enough? They're so new that you can hardly find any reviews on them. twenty/twenty 03-05-09, 12:41 PM Wolvernole, The new Sony Reference HT showcase PJ I have in my mind's eye would have the following, based on current available PJ tech- 1. Calibrated D65 Lumens of 800-1200 2. Fully functional CMS built in 3. Real Native contrast > 15,000 4. Ansi >500 5. Useful long throw lens option 6. Motorized focus, zoom, and lens shift 7. Memory for 2.35 to 1 and 16:9 lens settings for zooming 2.35 to 1, similar to the new Panasonic or Christie HD6KM 8. Functional/silent/unobtrusive dynamic iris wnielsenbb 03-05-09, 03:32 PM Just add 120Hz input and you got something. Warren. Let's bring it out. I estimate that we are looking at $15K + and doing away with the VW200. thrang 03-05-09, 10:47 PM I was there. Nothing new, though I was given the impression the VW-80 (or some variant thereof) will be released in the fall in North America. WOLVERNOLE 03-05-09, 11:32 PM Well I still think that a release of the VW-80 in North America (given a decently-dropped price) would spice the $5-8K level up a lot ! twenty/twenty 03-06-09, 01:01 PM Bummer.:( Thanks for the update Thrang. |
