Seems like the economy is not good and Sony has their focus on the mass market more than the niche market. For awhile Sony's mass product seems to be cheaply made but charge with a premium. Now I can see them taking back the lost market from Samsung.

With the RS20 out and about and the Lumis looming, I would say it is time for a new Sony showcase piece.

Any news yet? The show is over for another year.

The new Sony Reference HT showcase PJ I have in my mind's eye would have the following, based on current available PJ tech-

1. Calibrated D65 Lumens of 800-1200
2. Fully functional CMS built in
3. Real Native contrast > 15,000
4. Ansi >500
5. Useful long throw lens option
6. Motorized focus, zoom, and lens shift
7. Memory for 2.35 to 1 and 16:9 lens settings for zooming 2.35 to 1, similar to the new Panasonic or Christie HD6KM
8. Functional/silent/unobtrusive dynamic iris

Just add 120Hz input and you got something.

Ooooh yea ! Outstanding ! Let's bring it out. I estimate that we are looking at $15K + and doing away with the VW200.

I was there. Nothing new, though I was given the impression the VW-80 (or some variant thereof) will be released in the fall in North America.

Well I still think that a release of the VW-80 in North America (given a decently-dropped price) would spice the $5-8K level up a lot !
