I have been saving to buy a nice projector and get rid or my old CRT 55" TV.

I have been using Lumagen Radiance for this TV (maybe a waste) but it does great job for 480i to 1080i upconvert.

Anyway: Now that I am planning on a projector I have the dilemma. Some of the new features on the RS10 and better video processor..... But...... If I already have the Lumagen (meaning we discount the price of it) is there a big difference if I buy RS1 instead of the new one?

I may be able to get a RS1 for 3K (or 2.3Kused) instead of 1.5K extra on the RS10

Thanks

That's a pretty compelling argument to my layman's ears for the RS1. I just got my RS10 from Mark @ AVS and couldn't be happier with the projector or the transaction. I too thought of going with a RS1 with external color processor. However, in my case I'm using a PS3 as my source. In situations such as mine, how does the lumagen impact PS3's native 24p support and its color expansion to 12 bits? Or is the lumagen so good as to obviate such concerns?

In my non-light controlled room projectng against the wall, I decided the lumagen wouldn't add much value for me. But as we are relocating to a custom built house in a year which will have a dedicated theater room, I plan on revisiting the lumagen option then.

I am now living happily with inaccurate, but subjectively quite pleasing, colors associated with turning down color saturation on my RS-1. Especially given its price, the RS-10 is an attractive choice given its increased CR and iris options and if I were new to the projector market I'd seriously consider it. However, if accurate colors are an absolute necessity now it appears the Lumagen Radiance is the only option, barring a fixed CMS on the RS20 that I've heard is forthcoming(??)

I'd be concerned about imminent obsolescence if I were getting the Lumagen Radiance primarily for CMS reasons, if there is any veracity to the report of the firmware fix for the RS20's CMS.

"the Lumagen Radiance is the only option,"

While far from perfect on paper, many RS1 owners are getting very satisfactory color correction from the Vision HDP or HDQ at a fraction of the price of the Radiance.
