I currently have a velodyne vrp 1200, and just want more boom for movie watching, I am picking up an infinity sw212, which is a powered 400 watt sub, and thinking of combining both subs. what my concern is, will I be drowning out the rest of the surround sound. my media room is approx. 15x10 and the rest of my system is an onkyo tx sr806-130 watts, front speakers-polk rti 10's, polk cs2 center channel, turned my original fronts- polk monitor 70's (before I found the rti's) and are using them for rears until I get some true satellites, also have some infinity 250's that have never been used. so the final ? is yes it will probably be overkill to hook up both subs, but I just want some really serious house shaking for action movies, without detracting from the rest of the sound production (too much bass). also would add that I just bought the onkyo and have not hooked it up yet. I still have my first rec'vr hooked up which is a harmon kardon 7300 110 watts. got the onkyo for the hdmi hookups and the extra wattage. also the hk is starting to have small problems. any help would be much appreciated, rick....

If you really want some serious house shaking, skip the Infinity and treat yourself instead to one of the internet brand subs.

SVS, HSU, Epik, Elemental Design. Trust me: It's where you're going to wind up anyway.

I agree, I would look at other sub brand options. You will not be drowning out the rest of the system, unless you don't calibrate things right to the correct matching SPL. Also, positioning will be very important, opposite sides of the room to help flatten out frequency response, or near each other to give you more output, that is your call.
