I have Studios 100 as fronts, CC-690 as center and Adp-590 as Surrounds and a Servo 15 v.2.
I want more Bass for movies. What would be my best choise?

1- Get another Paradigm Servo v.2 matching the existing Sub.
2- Add a SVS PB 13 Ultra to the System

Thanks in advance for all the opnions!!!:)

If you like your Servo 15, I'd suggest matching it up.

If you're looking for more HT bass then the Ultra 13 is hard to beat by all accounts. If you're listening to music and don't care for the sound of the 13 turn it off and just run the 15.

I have never seen the need for more than a single sub but then I don't own a home that has a room large enough to max out my system -- though that would be nice!

Would probably run into difficulties trying to blend your Ultra with the different Servo (or any two different subs). The Servo is a great sub, two would give you more SPL, just won't go as low as the Ultra. How big is your room?

Actually the Servo can play pretty damn low, just not with the kind of output that the 13Ultra is capable of.

To the OP - keep in mind that it is not always about the output, but SQ as well.

The Ultra also excels in that area as well...

The Paradigm Servo is becoming a dated sub, is it a bad one, heck no, but in the last couple of years alot of much better products have come out.

It was about time Paradigm updated that line of subs, but for the prices of the new subs - there may be better choices out there...

If sealed is your thing, SVS is coming out with a new sealed lineup that should be quite impressive knowing that they do subs right !!!

Actually, that's a good point, can you still get a new Servo v2? Thought they replaced the line with a "SUB-10/12/15" line or something like that? Saw it at my audio dealer a week ago or so (the 12" sealed version anyhow).

Oddly enough it's not on their website though?

The new models are trickling in....maybe it's time to scout the stores and pick up the Servo 2 at a clearout price.

As much as the SVS and others are better value, I'd personally rather have matched subs, just in case I want to colocate them, stack them whatever. The Servo already digs very deep anyway

(I've never seen objective tests of the V2 Servo, so I'm not sure the output results of the v1 done at avtalk are representative of the real output of V2.... different amp and driver)

And note that SVS haven't offered him a job yet. He left Secrets because SVS offered him a position.

As I am not an insider, anyone want to clue me in on the last three comments??? Very curious.

In the first post, pbc gave a link to a review of the Servo v2.

In the second post, Kal Rubinson notes that it was reviewed by Ed Mullen, an employee of SVS.

In the third post, I mentioned that Ed wrote all of his reviews before getting a job at SVS, therefore he's not subjected to any bias.

Translation: Ed Mullen felt the V2 was an incredible subwoofer, albeit a tad lacking in the deep bass aspects when pushed. But duals would alleviate that somewhat (i.e., would give it the ability to play at it's lowest capable levels louder). Kal I believe is inferring that as the review comes from Ed Mullen, you can be certain it's a great subwoofer if he says it's a great sub. Chengbin is just confirming that although Ed is now an employee of SVS, he wasn't when he wrote that review.

Before I would buy a second sub, I would buy an SMS-1.
This is a great tool to make sure your current sub is doing
what it is supposed to.

You may find you have room issues that can be corrected
through EQ or moving your sub.

Only once your current sub is up and running right, should you
consider a second sub.

I would contact your local Paradigm dealer and have them contact
their regional sales rep. I bet a Servo can be had at a pretty good
price.

Remember that all the numbers thrown around are maximums. 2 servo's
are better than 90% of all the subs most people own.

Have fun!

+1 on that. I have one, and the difference is quite impressive.

I'm also running two Servos. A v.1 and a Signature Servo. The hookup is a bit... unconventional.
The v.1 is driven by the SMS-1, which is being fed by the main L/R outputs. The Studio 40s up front work quite well with the Servo, and gives me the ability to play 2 channel without using DSP on my preamp(analog only mode). The Servo Sig is on LFE, and was quite an improvement over the v.1

The Signature Servo has also been dropped, for the Sub25 I believe, but their website still lists both... All I know, is I got a helluva deal on mine a few months back.

Thanks. I was reading the wrong things into it....
