For those that bought the Pro Pack version of 9 Platinum, do you think it was worth the extra $20?
It looks like you basically get 1,000 sound effects and 100 3D transitions & cartoons. That doesn't seem worth it for my usage, but is there something else I'm missing?

Thanks!

Sony practices severe price discrimination.

It also includes "Includes Sound Forge Audio Studio 9" and "Cinescore Studio plug-in for soundtrack creation".

No I don't have it, I have been using the Sony Vegas pro versions for about 5 years. I use ACID Music Studio 7 for music creation and mixing. I would be interested in a good review of the 'Cinescore Studio plug-in'.

You need an answer from someone who actually uses it.

It also includes "Includes Sound Forge Audio Studio 9" and "Cinescore Studio plug-in for soundtrack creation".I downloaded a trial version of Sound Forge and found that Sony Vegas Platinum can do essentially the same but more easily, particularly for someone who is editing a video with audio tracks, and not just audio.

I haven't tried Cinescore so I don't know. Comments would be welcome. One reason I didn't take the Pro Pack is because of clutter.

I have been using the Sony Vegas pro versions for about 5 years. That's the best solution but Vegas Pro is expensive. I agree that anyone serious should use it or Adobe CS4 but for me, this is just a hobby.

It's a reasonably good and complete package for the hobbyist. You won't need to go anywhere else to process your video with effects and such.

Personally I use Sony Vegas pro and Adobe Audition 3 for my editing (I find adobe much better than soundforge)... but there is a substantial price difference there.

The Platinum package though is probably better for the simple hobbyist because it comes with a few more of those "flashy effects" than the pro package.

And hey.... an extra $20 is nothing when it comes to hobbies!

The main differences that Platinum Pro Pack has/regular Platinum doesn't:

Includes Sound Forge Audio Studio 9
Includes 1,001 Sound Effects
Includes Pro Pack Cinescore Themes
Includes New Blue 3D Transitions and Effects
Includes 2 GB Flash Drive while supplies last

Looks like that's worth $20 to me.

"1,001 Sound Effects".
You can download free wav sound fx off the internet...but downloading a thousand of them, sifting through what is good, would take a long time.

"Cinescore Themes"
Cinescore themes allows you to add movie-like sound tracks. I don't know how many are included, but you can check out the description:

"New Blue 3D Transitions and Effects"
I saw a couple of them, looked really interesting. One was a pastel effect where you apply the plug-in and the video looks like a pastel animation.
Again, I don't know how many you get, but you can see them at the NewBlueFX website:

None of those extras, including Soundforge (which is selling for $55+ alone), come with Vegas Pro @ $500+.
