I was shocked this thread is so small. I was hoping to find discussions on good players, but there is none. So, I'm looking to get into SACD/DVD-A and don't know where to start. I prefer a dual format player. I'd like an entry level player under $200 if possible. DVD/upscaling is unimportant to me - I have that covered. I'd prefer HDMI over analog outputs. This is going to an Onkyo 705. I see a few on google and e-bay but wondering what others recommend. I don't mind used or refurbs if I can get a little more for the money.
TIA for any input.
Unless you already have SACD and DVD-A media, I will hold, wait and see how Blu-ray is going to pan out. It's getting hard to get the media for the two format. They are becoming collector's item.

I use the Oppo 980H with my Onkyo 605 over HDMI. Plays both sacd and dvd-a over HDMI. It also ignores the watermark on dvd-a discs, so it will play all backup copies or user created mixes.

Thanks for the input all. I looked at the manual for an old DVD player I had in the basement and it supports DVD-A at least. I might give that a try for the time being. There are a limited number of albums I could see purchasing anyway. DSOM and Quaudiophiliac being the two I'm most desperately interested in hearing. And any pipe organ music if available. William, thanks for the offer and I may take you up on it if I get more into this.

This forum is more for the software (music) rather than the hardware. The SD DVD and BD player forums have info on the players that support SACD and/or DVD-A.
Occasionally threads get started here, but they end up re-hashing what is already covered in the HW forums, so they either die or get closed/locked.
