Hi all,

I have 4 identical lcd projectors and 3 of them are really dim and looked washed out. The colors are all fine as far as none missing, just looks real dull and almost a touch of focus. They all have around the 200 hour mark on the bulbs. The image also has a bit of ghosting , especially with text. The 4th looks much better.

So my question is what exactly is causing this issue? Is it the bulb? Panels? or is it possibly the cabling? I noticed this when I used all the projectors projecting the same image using rgbhv cables.

Any comments are appreciated , thanks

Welcome to AVS.

It would help if you list the maker/model of your LCD projectors and any environmental information, such as ambient light, screen size/gain/distance, etc.

The projectors are Christie LX 50.

This problem has nothing to do with any environment issues at all. All 4 projectors are in the exact same environment with the same source feeding them. Only one looks as it should.

Thanks for your reply

Maybe the 3 dim ones are in "eco mode". See page 37 in the manual (http://www.aboutprojectors.com/pdf/christie-lx50-manual.pdf").
Lamps do vary in brightness although at the same age the variation shouldn't be immediately noticeable. All 4 projectors are in the exact same environmentIt is possible that the bright one's screen is high-gain or less of the ambient light is shining directly on it.with the same source feeding themSee if connecting one of the "dim" projectors to the "bright" projector's source cable makes a difference.

thanks again for the reply,

As for the screens, all are identical as far as gain/ambient light

I have done the swapping cable connections already and projectors look the same on any one the 4 cable runs.

I will look into the eco mode

I think this problem has something to do with internal, as the images just look "blah", like I said dimm and fuzzy

Another test you can do is to swap lamps between the good pj with one of the bad ones.

Did you check the settings among the pjs to see if they are similar - brightness setting, etc?

all settings the same

swapping the bulbs is a good idea, I am going to give that a whirl

I'm way over my head here but how is air flow? All projector have the same access from fresh air and not breathing from another projector outflow?

It's possible that the projector temperature affect the LCD panel. What generation of LCD panel is this? I know that older LCD projector don't age that well. If the average temperature is to high they will age faster. I've seen an old LCD (Sanyo) that showed a yellow glow and washed out image a few years back.
