I have the new PB12+ in a pretty small (1400 cubic feet) sealed dedicated home theater. I have a ton of room gain that I have a hard time taming. I read the review over at Secrets, and noticed he ran this sub in sealed mode. Last night I tried it, and putting it in sealed mode. I additionally tamed a pretty big peak at 25-28hz. My result was pretty amazing. I was able to get the response completely flat to within 2dB down to 10hz. (maybe lower, but 10hz is the lowest I measured). Here is my concern. In order to do all of this, my sub is at about 1:00, and my avr is at +2 for the LFE channel. I know my room is tiny, but this seems like I might have to put the sub level too high to get these results in sealed mode.

Any thoughts, and what is the best way to test if the sub can handle this in my room?

1:00 and +2 does sound like a lot of gain. I assume you calibrated the levels with your mains. I'd suggest this: Listen to a challenging movie at the loudest level you would normally want to listen. Then do it again at the same levels, but with the mains turned off and only the sub playing. Does the sub sound like it's over stressed?

Thanks Mike. Yes, the sub is calibrated with the mains, 75dB for all on the RS SPL meter. Maybe a tad hot, because of the 2-3db RS SPL correction.

I am wondering if the full cut at 25-28hz helps to make the sub level a little more irrelevent because it is saving headroom in the more difficult lower frequencies, than higher up?
