I need to get a new DVD burner for my PC but I'm not sure how to tell if I need an IDE or SATA drive?

Here are the specs on my PC from the Compaq page, but I can't see the info I need anywhere:

Thanks!

Just pull the lid off and have a look. IDE will be a large flat ribbon cable while sata will be a much smaller thinner cable... maybe about the size of lamp cable.

DVD is old school now.

I bought the LG GGW-H20L (5.25" PC internal SATA Blu-Ray burner) two months ago now, and it works perfectly - 4x burns on BDR, and 16x burns on DVDR !!

Don't have SATA ? - buy a SATA controller card (cheap).

BTW, I am using this drive with in a WELLAND external housing via USB on my laptop, converts eSATA to SATA + USB - works perfectly.

I would like to get a Bluray burner, but the price difference is still too high: $30 for a Dual Layer DVD burner versus $200 for Bluray.
I'll stick with DVD for now and wait for Bluray to come down...

Old school? But I am laughing with all the savings from the media cost....

From the link in the first post:

Hard drive

*250 GB SATA 3G (3.0 Gb/sec)
*7200 rpm

Looks like you have a SATA hard drive so you should have more open SATA ports. Get yourself a SATA DVD burner.
