Hello,
I own a Sony handycam capable of recording in AVCHD 1080i on 8cm disks and have been rather happy with it.

However, a few months ago, an 8cm disk with valuable video I was recording was corrupted as I was recording the last clip:mad:. The disk is no longer readable by either the camcoder or the Sony software on the PC.

But I did notice, that 10 of the 11 m2ts files on the disk are intact while the 11th is corrupt - so I was hoping to find some way to recover the 10 that are ok. Also some of the associated auxiliary(?) files in the BDMV folder seem to be mising (that is probably why neither the camcoder nor Sony software can read the disk?) but I was hoping that perhaps I can either somehow read the m2ts files directly or somehow recreate the auxiliary files from the m2ts.

Any ideas?
-Thanks-

Does Windows read the disk?

If the remaining M2TS files are good and windows can read the files... then you should simply be able to copy them to the hard drive. Then just find any editor that can handle M2TS files

Yes, thank you. It did work !

I copied files to hard disk and then I guess the SONY “picture motion browser” software can read raw m2ts files without the complete BDMV directory structure and support files.

Thanks a lot.
