I am having an issue with my HR22 receiver and dolby digital. My set up is as follws:
I have hdmi going from the HR22 to a Sony LCD. I have an optical cable going from the HR22 to my Sony receiver. I noticed this just recently. On some shows and stations, the comercials are muted amd muffled, then once the show starts it sounds fine. Also at the end of shows, where they show the previews for the next week, the sound is off. If I turn off dolby on the HR22, it all sounds ok, but I am not getting the digital signal on the stereo receiver. It only effects some channels and some OTA.
Any idea what the issue might be? It didn't so this before, just started in the last week or so. Most of the time its just the commercials, not always all of them, and the previews. Any help would be appreciated.

Is your receiver set to Auto Detect the signal being received? Perhaps you are set to only play audio in DD, not PCM. Then when the commercials come on in PCM, your received is being told (by your menus) not to detect and play it.

I had an Onkyo that allowed the user to specify the type of decoding to decode per input. For example, input 1 only detects DTS, input 2 only detects PCM. If you send a PCM signal to input 1, no audio. If I set both inputs to auto-detect then audio from any source would be audible.

This is about the only thing I can think of.
