Could someone please refer me to some good threads that talk about speakers, subs, receiver, etc. that I would need to form a good quality system.

I am looking to build this slowly over the course of a year or two... Spending up to $10,000 I think?

I really am clueless about all of this, but would like to be referred to some great threads where I can learn the good receivers...

I have a samsung 63" 650 model and PS3 for bluray purposes.

I do not have anything else. I would be buying everything in stages. (i.e. not all at once, over the course of months, if not several years)

You might want to state your budget for speakers and receiver. You can spend as little as $200 or as much as $4000 or more for a receiver.

That is the thing, I am not sure of the "typical" speaker to receiver ratio. For example, if you spend 5 on receiver, you typically spend 20 on speakers....

That is why I gave my HDTV, it is a $3,000 dollar 63" plasma TV. I have a PS3 for BluRay purposes. I am not sure where the threshold where you have to spend substantially more for little improvements.

Kind of like buying a Pioneer over a Samsung. You spend twice as much, but don't receive twice the greatness. But a Vizio vs a Samsung, you spend twice as much, but it DOES show.

I want to think that a whole setup of $10,000 would do the trick? Obviously it doesn't have to be 10,000 if that is overkill and a novice wouldn't see "that" much difference.

A lot depends on the combo. For some speaker systems/rooms, one doesn't require a lot of power to run it. Still others may require separates due to these (and other) parameters.

Honestly I would start by finding local places to audition things, speakers especially as they are all very different. Good thing is $10k is pretty easy to get a VERY good setup.
