View Full Version : Furniture options
mapitc0 03-05-09, 09:53 PM I'm looking for HT furniture, but I really don't know what brands are out there, or what options they have.
This is the best I've seen:

However, I only have 11'4" (136") of usable width in my HT, and I need to be able to get by. So, I'm probably limited to about 9'4" (112") with a 24" walkway. What other options do I have?
What I like about the seats in the pic is the love seat (wouldn't mind having all love seats actually). I like the recliners. I like the low backs. And I like that the seats look somewhat firm. Our den couch is similar, but it's the cotton stuffed pillows and while soft, they get all bent out of shape. I really rather like something with the firmness of a car seat.
Thanks.

TheaterSeatStore 03-06-09, 06:30 PM The best answer would be based on your budget. There are a number of great options out there in the market but the prices are wide spread. Assuming that you can fit 3-4 seats, what were you budgeting?
The reason I ask is because the seats in the picture above are Fortress Seats and start at $2500/seat and up. They are very high quality seats and if this is your budget range then there are some other high end manufacturers that you need to consider like Elite HTS and Continental Seating. These are true custom manufacturers who get the premium they charge because they make the seats unique to the people that will use them. When dealing with this caliber of seat, if you see a model that you like but do not like the back height, it can be changed. These are not 'production seats' and you pay for that customization. You mentioned that you have space constraints and with this type of manufacturer, you can modify the width of the seats to work in your space.
On the other hand, if you are looking in the sub $5k range for these seats then you should consider Berkline, Palliser or Coaster. These provide good quality and price with no ability to customize outside leathers and accessories like power or buttkickers etc. As suggested above, there are plenty of posts on the features and benefits of these seats in this section of the forum.
yrless11 03-06-09, 10:14 PM Can you do 2 rows of 3 chairs to work around your width limitation? If not, you'll need find the style, etc of chairs that you like and look for the narrowist one. You may have to compromise on some other features though.

Honestly, if I was looking at 20k in seating, I'd build my own seats so that they'd be EXACTLY what I wanted. So, I'm probably looking at those three brands you mentioned. That's exactly what I was wanting to know; a jumping off point for these seats so that I could go and see what's available commercially at commercial type prices.
I dont like all the options anyway. I just want cupholders in a set of low back recliners. I'm a pretty simple guy, and I like black. Henry Ford, "You can have any color you like as long as it's black."
chiltown 03-16-09, 07:19 AM Are there any production manufacturers that make firm seating that are reasonably priced? So far I have only ran across manufacturers that use lower-grade (either 1.8 or 2.0 density) foam?
Is there choice beyond Berkline and Coaster if you wanted to get four leather seats shipped for under $2K
mapitc0 03-17-09, 01:38 AM For anyone else looking, the Berkline 12006 loveseat configuration is 54" wide which means that two side by side is only 108". That's as narrow as many of the 3 seat configurations, but it'll fit two couples in a row.
I'm interested in a single row of four powered seats. My constraint is that I only have about 106" footprint available. It looks like my only option is a four seat wide couch with armrests only on each end. I want good quality leather with no vinyl and good construction. A local place (Washington DC area) sells a brand out of Canada called Northern Lights that looks good. I've heard that Berkline is not great quality, but haven't seen it myself. Any thoughts on Northern Lights, Berkline or others?

The Berkline 12006s are not available in just a loveseat configuration. The Berkline does not offer a left facing arm recliner on any imported groups. You can do chair/loveseat/chair though, and it will take 110" (the 12006s have 1/2" wider seat than 45088s). Remember though, that both 45088 and 12006 have a low back - 38.5", and this may not provide good head support for folks who are taller than 5'8" or so.
