Hi again all,
I am still looking for some advice and opinions on a sub. I haave been reading alot of reviews and have decided on all the speakers but the sub. I am going with the Def Tech 800's for front and rear and PC1000 center. I heard the Def Tech 800 sub but thought it sounded weak and had no real "presence" (I'm a newbie and could still tell lol). Any way I am seriously looking at the eD A2-300 and the SVS PB10. Any opinions on each would be appreciated, and also do you think these bigger subs will drown out the 800's or compliment them nicely?? Thanks for the input in advance.

Hi Rangers13, let me start off by saying that I have heard neither sub and am a biased SVS owner.
With that said, I can tell you that you don't need to be worried about the sub drowning out your speakers. When you get a sub you level match it to the rest of your system which ensures that it does not drown out the other speakers. This allows very powerful sub to play nicely with not so powerful speakers and amp.
Regarding the SVS or ED decision, as I said I have heard neither, but one factor that I would like to bring to your attention is the driver orientation. The SVS is front firing and the ED is down firing. I can't claim that either style is better from a performance perspective, however I can mention that I really enjoy watching my sub moving. You will not be able to see the ED sub moving during playback.

I am getting close to making a decision on a sub, hopefully this wk. The only reason I am hesitant on either of these is the size. They seem and from ppl say on here they are rather large which will be difficult for me to accomodate. So I guess my next question is if the low end Def Tech Supercube (cant remember which number) is any good? It is quite small and I know it isnt either of the above 2 but is it anywhere close to quality? Also is the supercube a big upgrade over a prosub 1000 or not worth the extra money? thanks again.

If you're still deciding between the A2-300 and PB10-NSD, I believe they're pretty much from the same class of internet-direct subwoofers. These are both entry-level models.
I have the eD because I didn't want to shell out $170 more just to get the SVS.
The eD is huge at around 18" x 18" x 24".

Another one to consider is the Paradigm DSP-3100.
At 16-1/4 in x 12-1/4 in x 16-3/4 in it is easy to place and sounds great.
You get if from B&M stores, not ID, so if in stock there is instant gratification. You will have to go to the stores to get their best price as they only quote MSRP over the phone; the two dealers in my area were willing to give 15% and 20% off.

Have you considered the eD A3-250? It's a much smaller physical sub, with a 10" driver with 350 WattsRMS amp.
W - 13.75", H - 13.75", D - 24.5"
As for the Paradigm, I don't see a freq response or curve, so can't say if it's got the goods in the 20hz region that the eD's and SVS's do. That's where you feel what going on, on the screen rather than just hear it! That's where it makes or breaks a movie experience.

Could you give us a quick overview of your thoughts about the A2-300? Using it for HT and music? Thanks.
