How can I tell if my Eye-One is defective? Maybe I'm just paranoid after hearing about daMaster's meter.

I'm new to this calibration stuff. I've calibrated my Dell monitor (with the software on my Mac) and my Panny 800U (with the AVS DVD and HCFR). But I just can't shake the feeling that they are both a little purplish.

Are my eyes just adjusting to the new color temperature? I mean, I used the monitor for almost a year with uncalibrated settings.

You really should post your HCFR file if you want some good feedback, but to be honest there is no easy way to verify if the light meter is accurate or not. You really need a reference meter to compare to. If you purchased the meter from Calman, I believe they can check the meter for you.

The HCFR software is a wonderful piece of firmware but I also believe the measurements (grayscale, gamma, luminance) become less accurate as your color points move away from reference. I don't have any hard proof of this other than my own measurements with HCFR and the adjustments I have had to make for inaccurate color on my Sony SXRD.

I knew my i1 was gone when no matter what display i calibrated i got a red tint. It worked perfectly before, but after a few months i hooked it up and it was very obviously reading the red too low. Yours may not be so obvious though, and it may be better to send it in for a test, if you bought it from a resller who offers them.

Sorry, pet peeve, but firmware is the software that runs on hardware, hcfr is purely user end software.
