I have a 42'' Vizio (Gallevia) LCD TV and is hooked up to a Motorola HD DVR cable box (Time Warner) via component. When I press info on my TV it says 720p. Why can't I get 1080i?? Am I missing something??

You might try a different channel. On my cable company some channels are 720p and others are 1080i.

If you have the same box as me, you need to change the setting in the setup menu. Turn the box off, hit menu, and find the resolution selector. It lets you pick 480i, 480p, 720p, or 1080i. (4:3 override determines how to output SD content, but I think it only works for HDMI. 720p/1080i scale and pillarbox the content, while 480i/p leaves it native 4:3).

You can't do a source direct setting. You'll get 1080i or 720p for all channels regardless of what's transmitted. Thus, if you set to 1080i, the box will upscale and interlace the 720p channels (ABC, FOX, ESPN, etc.) to 1080i.
