View Full Version : Genuine THX poster (1995) - What is it worth?
Hi,
I have a genuine THX "The Audience Is Listening" poster (1995) in storage. I had it framed on the wall of my home cinema / living room until I got married and as my home cinema is also a living room, the poster had to go when she moved to my house...
It is a double-side print for illuminated frames, I have rolled it after taken out the frame about 10 years ago. Itīs condition is mint, like brand new.
I have got an impression that it is really a hard-to-find item these days as THX is not selling the posters any more (I didnīt found 'em?).
Most likely I will never put it back on the wall, I have no THX-certified units in my system any more.
How much is it worth these days?

Do you mean like the one I attached to this message? You're probable not going to get much for it at all since you can download a VERY high resolution version (3800x5300) like the one I attached... without the "copywrited" message in front of it of course.
The file is very easy to find online and you can have one printed double sided and poster sized for next to nothing... yes it would look exactly like the original.
JBLsound4645 03-09-09, 10:31 AM Most dishonest home theatre I mean home cinema uses would nick these from the cinema, providing they have the bottle to do so.
I didn’t think about that, looking on fleaBay for some wall plaques or other providing its original and not some spamming rip off lowlife flogging this on fleaBay for personal money gain.

Oh, that would be piss easy to remove most of the copyright text, if not child’s play. But I still wouldn’t pay 1pence for it.

I wouldn’t give you 1pence for that! That is bad clone copy it doesn’t have the original typeface on above the THX logo and the logo is all wrong as well. I did an art and graphic design course around early 1990 and that doesn’t fool me.
Mark Booth 03-09-09, 11:28 AM I don't know... the image shared by chucky looks exactly the same as the image shared by HHjul (minus the copywrited text). So, I guess you are implying that HHjul's image is not the original?

If he feels that the poster that I downloaded is a fake, that's his opinion. Fake or not, the poster that I downloaded is at a high res of 3800x5300 (no copywrite writing) and looks identical to all of the posters that I have seen up close which also looks like HHjul's attached image.
HHjul, is your poster the same as both these images?

JBLsound4645 03-09-09, 05:38 PM Now this seems close to the one I saw at the CIC/UCI High Wycombe THX cinema back around 1990, the CIC was voted so my friend said as the best 5th or 8th THX sound system in the world and it was evil in bass I mean wicked I think they only had two JBL 4645 for the sub bass extension JBL 4675-A for screen fronts not sure if they had the five-screen for Todd-AO and Dolby stereo format 43. Guess it was for Baby boom only with 70mm.

Anyway that ones the closest with the THX logo.
JBLsound4645 03-09-09, 05:41 PM Flipping heck you need a magnifying glass to see this one and that isn’t the one I saw at CIC/UCI it’s a clone attack of the THX poster clones. LOL
