I am looking at Middle Atlantic rack enclosures. I can't decide if I should get the 20" depth (18" usable) or the 25" (23" usable") I presently don't have anything that would require more than the 18", but I am unsure about the future? I have more than enough room for either. It's between the ERK-4020 and the ERK-4025. They have a metal back door.
Any suggestions? What depth do most people choose?
Thanks,
Fred

If you can accommodate the extra depth, I'd go with the 25". Some large Receivers come close to 17" without connectors.
I would stick with the 20" but make sure you have a few extra inches behind the rack. Is your rack in a closet, or will the back be accessible? With the 25" model will cause you to have to get longer cables if you plan on doing any wire management that ties to the back rail of the rack (5" more to each the rail and from the rail to the termination devise.) Way spend the extra money?

As everyone has said you probably need more than 20 inches in the back, not necessarily a rack deeper than 20 inches. For example many receivers are nearly 20 inches deep and with several thick HDMI cables hanging out the back of them you need an additional 2-3 inches. Having said that a 25 inch deep rack allows you to keep all the wiring attached on the sides within the rack frame which can make for a neater installation.

Thanks for the feedback. Sound's like I should go for the 25" (23 usable). The extra cost over the 20" is only around $50. There is a back metal door, so the stuff needs to fit or the door won't close.
