Witch scaler is the best for sd dvd- blu ray and for overall picture enhancement
Looking at Crystalio 2, Vp 50 or Radiance? The last one looks a little simple
But I guess it’s the inside that counts?
Thankful for any suggestions

The Radiance has Lumagen's proprietary "no-ring" scaling. When you watch SD DVDs scaled up to fit a HD display, the edges of objects will have clean edges. The Radiance also includes temporal, spacial and mosquito noise reduction. Using the Radiance, you can totally calibrate your display and video sources.

I own both the VP50 and the Radiance - as was already stated, the Radiance does produce a cleaner picture with no ringing when performing scaling. It also has a CMS and is very powerful as far as commercial VPs go. Plus customer support from Lumagen is better overall, although as it stands right now the VP50 is a relatively mature product and not in need of any FW updates, nor does it look like it will get any new features. The Radiance receives FW updates on a regular basis to fix the minor bugs uncovered by users, and occasionally Lumagen adds more functionality, which is always nice - but overall I'd consider the Radiance to be a mature product as well.
The one thing I will say for the VP50 is that the interface is much more intuitive than that on the Radiance - the learning curve on the latter is kind of steep, especially if you haven't used a VP before.
Do you have a budget in mind?
The Denon 602ci should also be on your list. Out of the four so far mentioned, only the Lumagen Radiance and the Denon have comprehensive noise reduction features. The Denon is significantly cheaper than the Radiance, but the Radiance has a more comprehensive overall feature set.

True I didn't even think about that. I'd say that if you're looking for the most extensive VP toolset, go with the Lumagen...if the CMS and some of the other features aren't required the Denon would be a great deal.

Thanks for all the all the good advice guys !
HP I don’t have any special budget in mind, but of course good value and
not to hard to learn would be nice.
So if I understand it correctly , the Denon makes as good job scaling sd dvd as some of the others for half the price?
How about cleaning up the picture in HD dvd, Blue Ray , any difference how the the scalers perform ?

In this week's Battlestar Galactica DVD marathon in prep for the ending episodes, I put my Lumagen Radiance into serious DVD use. I had it do the 4:3->16:9 anamorphic stretch, then applied the Non-linear stretch mode to fill the 2.35 screen AR. Source was the Oppo 980H in 480i native mode.
Radiance scaling of DVD onto my 127" wide 2.35 screen is simply exceptional. I really didn't think it would be watchable. Given where I sit, I would notice scaling issues. Well, more like if there were any at all, they would jump off the screen and pummel me, I sit so close. I am truly impressed by this performance.
And of course the CMS for fixing my RS1 egregious colors is exceptional too.
