I recently purchased an HDMI receiver (Yamaha RX-V465) with DTS decoding. I connected my A-100 to the receiver and the receiver to my TV, both with HDMI and proceeded to play an MKV with DTS audio. At first I got no sound, but after stopping the file and restarting I was able to get it to work.
Then I tried the next file - nothing. I went back to the file I successfully played - nothing. I went into the audio settings and changed AC3 to Digital (RAW), then played a file with AC3... nothing. In all cases, the receiver displays "No Signal", but the video passes through to the TV just fine.
When I switch AC3 back to Analog (PCM), I get 2-channel PCM on the receiver, regardless if I select Surround or Stereo in the audio options.
This seems like a weird HDMI handshake issue to me and I've ordered a digital coax cable to connect the S/PDIF out on the A-100 to the receiver. But the fact that I was able to get DTS sound at one point makes me think I'm missing something.
For obvious reasons, I'd rather having this working with HDMI. Can anyone offer a little insight?
