Is there a calibration DVD that you recommend (or do not recommend, for that matter)? I know that Monster/ISF has one for around $30. Is it worth it? I just purchased the Panasonic TH-PZ800U. Thank you.

Scrigity 03-09-09, 06:44 PM I own a Blu-Ray player. GeorgeAB 03-09-09, 11:56 PM 'Digital Video Essentials: HD Basics' on Blu-ray is a good introductory program with narrated tutorials. The free download of the AVS Blu-ray program discussed in this section of the forum is more advanced, has no narration, but has more test patterns. However, it is playable on fewer brands of machines. Joei 03-10-09, 12:10 AM Are there any decent DVDs that one would recommend if you do not own an HD or Blu Ray player? I am about to purchase a new television (one of the new 37" Panasonic LCD models) and while I would love to have it professionally calibrated, that is out of my budget at the moment. I'm generally not too informed on these matters but do want to get the best picture that I'm financially able to. GeorgeAB 03-10-09, 12:22 AM 'Avia II Guide to Home Theater' is a standard DVD and a fairly comprehensive program with narrated tutorials for someone relatively new to the subject of home theater setup, display calibration and multi-channel audio adjustments. It's also more simple to navigate than the standard DVD version of 'Digital Video Essentials.' Joei 03-11-09, 04:31 PM Thanks a lot! I ordered that DVD you suggested. Do those setting adjustment DVDs work well for SD tvs? I'll probably be getting the dvd some time next week, but I won't be getting the new tv until April. It'll give me something to fool around with for the time being. GeorgeAB 03-11-09, 05:04 PM You can practice on your current TV with such programs. |
