It would help us to help you if you told us:
1. What model Motorola PVR you have?
2. Is the problem common to all program types, SD Analog, SD digital, and HD digital?
3. What resolution(s) are you sending from the Motorola PVR over what interface to your TV?
4. What make/model TV do you have?
5. Who is your cable provider and from what city?

What Make Model HDTV do you have and what resolution(s) are you using over what interface?

AFAIK my Motorola Cox STB does not have a speaker.
Does yours appear to beeb when it is "off"
Does yours appear to beeb if it is on and the TV is off?

both yes,

so it can beep through the tv and the box itself beeps..... I am not sure if it is coming thru a speaker or not... one time it beeped a whole lot tho and made a little whirr after, so I am thinking maybe the hardrive? does the harddrive have the abiltiy to make an audible beep tho?

also could it be some sort of overheating beep? if it even has one....

thanks for your time

Do you have any other units close to the 6416 such as a UPS power supply that might be making the beep.
The whiring sound concerns me.
I suggest that you consider take the 6416 to your nearest Cox office and have them give you a replacement. I have had to do that a couple of times and it only takes a few miutes.
