View Full Version : Acoustic Curtain Alternative?

This is for my living room, not my dedicated home theater room, but I still need it to sound decent, and the problem is I have a huge, 12-foot long sliding glass door on the right hand side.

I have seen wool-core acoustic curtains online, but they are very expensive. Does anyone know of a less expensive, or perhaps a DIY alternative to these? Any idea what kind of wool is used in the core and if it's available at a fabric store?

Thanks!

Just anything thick would work, but keep in mind that this is only going to absorb high end and leave the low end bouncing all around in the room.

So these types of products wouldn't work for low end? The manufacturers seem to claim they are pretty effective.... And again, I'm looking for absorption here, not sound-proofing.

Almost any fabric would work for high-end -- I was looking for something that would be absorptive across a broader spectrum of frequencies....

Nope...neither of those items will do a thing for low end. They might be pretty effect for high frequency control though.
